International Society of Feline Medicine

The International Society of Feline
Medicine (ISFM) was founded in 1996 (as the European Society of Feline Medicine) by International Cat Care (iCatCare) to provide a focus for veterinary surgeons with an interest
and enthusiasm for feline medicine. It became 'International' in 2010.
ISFM aims to provide a forum
for the dissemination of information and current developments
through its Journal of Feline Medicine and Surgery (JFMS).
Classic and clinical practice issues of the Journal are published
on alternate months.
Objectives:
- To serve veterinary practitioners and scientists with an interest in feline medicine and to establish links between different groups across the world
- To promote continuing education in the field of feline medicine
- To raise awareness of feline medicine to the practitioner
- To publish a specialist journal
- To forge links with humane societies and exchange information
- To develop further qualifications in the subject of feline medicine
Principal activities
- Production of Journal of Feline Medicine and Surgery in association with Elsevier and the American Association of Feline Practitioners
- Organisation of continuing education days/conferences for veterinary surgeons
- Working to develop specialist qualifications such as a certificate in feline medicine
