The Blue Cross exists to ensure the welfare of companion animals by providing practical care, highlighting the benefits of companionship between animals and people and promoting a sense of responsibility towards animals in the community. To achieve this the Charity is committed to the promotion of:

Finds new homes for dogs, cats and other companion animals through its 11 adoption centres
Manages and developed the Pet Bereavement Support Service in association with the Society for Companion Animal Studies.
Promotes the understanding of dog ownership and behaviour, through its specialist Animal Behaviour Team
Provides a veterinary service for pet owners who are unable to afford the full cost of private care, via its four Animal Hospitals.
